Wi-Fi in Rarotonga,Cook Islands is offered by Vodafone.

Vodafone has hotspots all around the island. You can buy data directly from the airport on arrival, or at all Vodafone stores. Hotspots are found at restaurants and hotels all around Rarotonga and at most groceries stores. Free WiFi is extremely hard to come by in Rarotonga and the Cook Islands. With only one internet operator and mobil phone network, Wifi is very expensive. The great news is that since 2023 few accommodations like Rainbow Villas, Magic Reef, Rendez vous villas

Getting a SIM Card


If you don’t have an international roaming plan for your mobile phone, you may find buying a prepaid local SIM card is the best way to ensure you can use your cellphone in Rarotonga.

SIM cards are readily available at Rarotonga International Airport and at Vodafone outlets in Avarua. You can top up your SIM card at most convenience stores or online.
Rarotonga’s only telecommunications provider is Vodafone Cook Islands.

The ‘’Visitor’’ Vodafone SIM come with 3 GB of data, 30 minutes of international voice, and 300 text messages for $49NZD. It works good pretty much anywhere on the island.

You can also get a prepaid data voucher from the Vodafone Shop for the amount of data you wish to buy and there you go. Will work on any phone, international SIM Card or not. Just have to find a Vodafone hot spot and log in with your details. Nearly all tourists accommodations and points of interest do have a hotspot.

Vodafone sell prepaid wi-fi access which can be used at hotspots around the main islands, in denominations of 7Day Pass NZ$10 (2.5GB), 10 Day Pass NZ$20 (5GB), 14 Day Pass NZ$30 (7.5GB),10 Day Pass NZ$50 (13GB) . Another option is to buy a local SIM card (NZ$25) for your smartphone or tablet, and purchase data.
