The Story behind the Rainbow Villas is not what you expect it to be! It’s a story that began decades ago in a different part of the world, a story of love, a shared passion for the ocean, for freedom of lifestyle and a twining together of cultures. Rainbow Villas is the beautiful story of Eric & Ira and their young family. The villas are named for the ‘Rainbow Lifestyle’ this family has enjoyed – the joyous blending of multiple cultures and languages – a love of life, a love for each other and a deep respect for the land, for nature and all it offers. This is the story of the Rainbow Villas – magnificent Polynesian architecture built for sustainability, surrounded by wonderful tropical fruit trees, majestic volcanic rocks & fauna – allowing for unparalleled luxury & privacy, while also respecting nature & eco awareness.

Eric was born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco to a Spanish-Portugese family. Ira was born in Bask Country – situated between Spain & France, mountainous & rural – deeply steeped in European culture. Both French nationals, Eric & Ira each speak 4 languages. Their paths first crossed at University in Bask Country – and they have been inseparable since. On completing University Studies Eric - a professional bodyboarder new on the international circuit at the time - introduced Ira to surf photography. Ira became skilled at copywriting, surf photography and videography and the young couple had an amazing lifestyle travelling the world following the waves – living ‘one more tour’ after another – in love with the ocean and the freedom, the world truly their oyster. Eric & Ira first discovered the Cook Islands during a trip to Australia in 2007…. The first visit to Rarotonga from their then Sydney base was for one month. The year after, they returned for 3 months, the following year for six months. On that third visit, they decided to make the Cook Islands home and to have their family on this beautiful island. Quite a decision for two European global surfing nomads! Eric and Ira managed Boog House, a surf camp, for a number of years, welcoming people of all nationalities and from all over the world.

Eric has since qualified as a naturopath. Lately, he has become passionate about natural medicine, permaculture and environmental sustainability. For the last 2 years, the family has been on a plant based diet eating more and more from the land. This lifestyle is reflected in the construction of the Villas. They were gifted with twin boys, Uhain Ngaru (meaning wave in bask and maori languages) and Haize Hau (meaning wind in bask and maori). The two boys have grown up on the beach, active and free, adding Maori to the cultural blend and linguistic skills of the family! In 2019, they are very excited and proud to announce the Grand Opening of the Rainbow Villas - their 2 brand new luxury villas beautifully designed for solo travellers, couples or surfers in search of world class waves. The Rainbow Villas are so named to reflect the diversity of this family. The villas stand for sustainability, for luxury, for hope and for love of the ocean. Ocean, surf, photography, nature…was the lifestyle Eric & Ira chose years ago and have always stayed true to. Over time, their respect for nature has deepened. This exceptional family are true “citizens of the world”, a beautiful mix of cultures, languages and countries… they love to meet people, understand cultural differences and discover things about people – Eric & Ira are natural born hosts and they are looking forward to hosting you! With all the privacy and the comfort you deserve, super king deluxe bedding & air con, spectacular views of the golf course and the endless blue ocean will leave you breathless. Positioned not far from the stunning white sand beaches and famous Black rock beach, the Rainbow Villas will bring your holiday dream to reality… Bienvenue! Kia Orana!
